Hold My Purse displays the beautiful balance of masculine and feminine energies within Black women. This composition challenges the "Angry Black Woman" trope by validating her emotions, no matter how uncomfortable some people may be. The mixed media approach of this work speaks to the varied experiences that Black women have with self-expression as it relates to race and gender despite the collective understanding that persists.
